Types of properties our experts work on

Private properties

From large to small projects, we will provide you with an architect, architectural technician or surveyor to provide you with the design inspiration you are seeking.

Commercial properties

For larger commercial projects, we will put you in touch with a registered architect who can take your design ideas and translate them into a practical project.

Local authority properties

Available skills are not just limited to domestic or commercial properties but can also include projects with local authorities, providing innovative ideas across multiple council settings.

What does an Architect do?

Architects design and create plans and blueprints for buildings which are used in development projects. This includes new build projects but can also include other examples such as restorations, renovations, extensions and more for both commercial buildings or residential projects. This could include both interior and exterior work on a range of properties including domestic homes, apartments, retail spaces and commercial properties.

A good architect will carry out some of the following functions:

  • Discuss with you your requirements and design ideas and form this into a practical project plan
  • Add creative ideas to make full and creative use of your space
  • Produce drawings and blueprints for your project
  • Act a link between you and your builder
  • Provide insight into the best use of materials
  • Advise on any environmental considerations
  • Help you with legal issues, such as planning permission and building regulations
  • Advise on any ethical or environmental considerations
  • Source builders and contractors to undertake the work
  • Management services to oversee the whole project (if required)

Preparing to work with your architect

Before engaging the services of an architect you should start to prepare a brief to outline the work you want to be carried out. Even if you don’t know the specifics of your project, an outline brief will help the architect stay to understand what you want from the project.

By discussing the work you require with your architect will help firm up ideas and plans and ensure that there are no misunderstandings as regards what work needs to be done. Your architect can generate plans and also get involved helping you in other areas such as sourcing builders for your project and assisting with other considerations such as planning permission and potential survey that may be required, even if via a third party contact of theirs.

Testimonials

“We required a complete refit of our office environment but didn’t know where to begin. UK Architects were invaluable in providing the inspiration and ideas, and always consulting with us along the way, to provide us with an office space fit for the modern work that provides that wow factor.”

Dave Beggs,
Office Manager, Liverpool

“What a professional service and made the whole process of getting planning permission largely painless. Plans were drawn up with consultation with us in quick time, and request changes done speedily without issue. We were able to get the planning permission we needed from the local authority for our extension.”

Brian Davies,
Cheshire

“We were very fortunate to have a top designer who used his expertise to produce some exceptional drawings, which enabled us to firm up our ideas for what we really wanted for our new build. The end result was an amazing design that was both aesthetically pleasing but also made full use of minimal space.”

Jenny Morris, Ellesmere Port

“As a wannabe landlord, I was amazed to discover how my property could be extended and converted to separate flat units to provide me with significant rental income. Without the assistance of Uk Architects I wouldn’t have realised what really was possible. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.”

Martin Davies,
Landlord, Chester
